Who is Rick and why is he crazy?
Rick Preuss is our fearless leader. He's been involved in the retail pet industry since before many of us were born. That means that he's well… old.
What makes Crazy Rick's Online different?
Through providing corals, equipment and advice to our aquarium hobbyists in Michigan for many years, we've built a local reputation for a diverse selection of the healthiest livestock, quality equipment and sound advice. We're not an overnight garage operation, and we look forward to sharing many positive experiences with each of our customers for many years to come.
Why add an online store after so many years as an LFS?
Over the years, we've met, developed and encouraged a lot of enthusiastic hobbyists. Due to a variety of circumstances many of our friends who have moved around the country regularly call and ask about shipping corals and other animals to them in their new homes outside Michigan. At the same time, we've dedicated a lot of energy to coral propagation, and are currently producing a surplus of corals beyond what our local market demands.
What efforts do you make to provide pest-free corals?
Pests like Red Bugs, Predatory Nudibranchs, and Flatworms are a constant threat to any coral farm that regularly imports or trades coral specimens. At Crazy Rick's we utilize strict quarantine procedures along with regular prophylactic dips and treatments to ensure only pest-free corals leave our store. Feel free to inquire about specific preventive protocols we've found to be most effective.
What do we mean by aquacultured?
When we say "Aquacultured", we mean that the coral you will receive was 100% grown in captivity. While there's nothing wrong with breaking a coral collected from the ocean into fragments for easier distribution, that is not aquaculture - and we won't represent it as such. |
