I've heard that since I'm in Michigan that I can choose UPS ground and save on my shipping. How does this work?
It's real simple. If you're in the lower penninsula of Michigan or even the northern parts of Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois, UPS ground is guaranteed to get to you next day at a fraction of the overnight cost!
It's $24.99 which includes box charge, heat packs etc. When you check out, simply check this option off the menu. The only caution we would offer is if you're in an extremely rural area, or near the border of the coverage in the southern states, we would suggest checking to make sure that your address is in the 1 day zone. Just follow this link and input your address and UPS will let you know if you're in the 1 day zone.
Note: Shipments via UPS Ground bear no guarantee of live arrival. For our 10 Day Guarantee, please choose overnight air options from UPS or FedEx.
Who will my order be shipped through?
We typically ship through UPS. We can also ship through FedEx which is a $10 up-charge from UPS. Simply choose your preference when you check out.
How are the orders packed?
We take great care to make sure that your corals arrive in the best condition possible. We use multiple bags with liners where applicable to reduce the likelihood of punctures during shipping. We've also chosen thicker Styrofoam boxes and utilize heat packs or cold packs to offer the greatest protection against temperature fluctuations. All bags are filled with oxygen as a standard procedure.
Can I pick the shipping day?
We typically ship Monday through Thursday. We can also do Friday ship outs for Saturday arrival. Saturday delivery entails a cost increase of $15.
I've heard that I can get my corals sooner if I pick them up at my local shipping station. How does this work?
We've been doing this for years with our shipments of various animals coming into our store. Instead of getting them randomly sometime between 11am and 5pm, we simply stop by the shipping station and pick them up at 9 am. By picking up your shipment at the station, you'll reduce some stress on the animals by shortening the shipping time, and reducing any rough handling. While we realize this may not be possible for everyone, we thought we would share this option as we've found it valuable on our end. If you'd like to use this option, let us know, and we'll make sure to set it up when we ship your order. Note: Please check to find out the location of your local shipping station with whichever shipper you've chosen to use.
Do I need to be home to receive my shipment?
Although you do not need to be home to receive your shipment, we highly recommend that they are received and introduced into the aquarium as quickly as possible. This will reduce the likelihood of the boxes sitting in hot or cold weather outside, and will also reduce the amount of time that they are in the bags.
What if my shipment shows up damaged?
In the unlikely event of a damaged shipment, do not refuse the shipment. Accept the shipment, acclimate the animals, and call or e-mail us immediately.
How do I track my shipment?
Thanks!
